BEIJING, Aug 13: The Pakistan contingent at the Beijing Olympics will celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day in a befitting manner as Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali hosts a ceremony here on Thursday to mark the occasion.

A flag-hoisting ceremony will be held at the hotel where the contingent is staying and the national anthem of Pakistan will be played on the occasion.

Jamali will host a dinner reception which will be attended by the officials of world hockey bodies.

The PHF chief said the celebrations would be a source of inspiration for the players.

PHF secretary Asif Bajwa said they had obtained special permission from the organisers of the Olympics to celebrate Independence Day.—APP
