Shakil bags cycling event

LAHORE, Aug 14: Mohammad Shakil of Lahore won the Lahore to Kasur Pakistan Independence Day cycle race on Thursday.

Shakil clocked the 42km distance in one hour, seven minutes and 29 seconds.

The competition, participated by some 68 cyclists with cash prizes for the top 10 position-holders, saw Shakil walk away with Rs5,000 besides taking the winner’s trophy. The second position, also claimed by Lahore, enabled cyclist Kashif Bari to receive Rs3,000 while Miran Bakhsh of Kasur got Rs2,000.
