SUKKUR, Aug 21: People are now pinning hopes on the coalition government to provide them a breather from whopping inflation and widespread unemployment, along with reinstating the judiciary.

This was stated by the office-bearers and members of Sukkur Small Traders Association in its weekly meeting.

They said that people were banking on the coalition government of pulling the masses out of economic crises after the resignation of Pervez Musharraf.

They said the ruling coalition was differing on reinstatement of judges after the resignation of Musharraf which does not augur well. They urged them to resolve all issues amicably to diffuse the growing uncertainty.

They said that the prices of petroleum products were constantly slipping in the international market which should be passed on to the people of Pakistan, already overburdened with the price hike.

They demanded relief to people in the form of price cut in daily use commodities, especially during Ramazan.

PROTEST: Activists of Shia Action Committee took out a procession and demonstrated at the Clock Tower in protest against the killing of innocent people in a suicide attack in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday.

Led by Syed Tahir Hussain Shah Musvi and Moulana Ali Bux Sajjadi, protesters took out a rally from Markazi Imam Bargah Bagh Karam Ali Shah. They raised slogans against the government and after marching on main streets reached the Clock Tower.

Mr Musvi and Mr Sajjadi said that the government neither announced any compensation for bereaved families nor offered condolences to them.

They said that the accused nominated in the FIR were not arrested while the government was busy negotiating with the Taliban. They demanded of the government to take notice of the incident.
