BEIJING, Aug 21: Revazi Mindorashvili won Georgia’s second wrestling gold at the Olympics on Thursday, blotting out thoughts of the crisis at home and vanquishing a Russian world champion on his way to the final.

Russia were held to a single gold medal on the final day of the wrestling contest, but the sport’s traditional superpower remained the most successful overall with six titles.

Mindorashvili won the men’s 84kg freestyle title by points over Yusup Abdusalomov of Tajikistan in the final.

World champion Georgy Ketoev of Russia and Taras Janko of Ukraine won the bronze.

In the 96kg final, Shirvani Muradov beat Kazakhstan’s Taimuraz Tigiyev. Khetag Gazyumov of Azerbaijan and George Gogshelidze of Georgia both won bronze medals.

In the last match of the competition, Artur Taymazov won the men’s 120kg freestyle title to give Uzbekistan their first wrestling gold medal here.
