FAISALABAD, Aug 22: The City district government Faisalabad (CDGF) will set up at least 50 new ‘Sasta Bazaars’ during the month of Ramazan and a cluster consisting of 5 or 6 union councils have been formed by selecting suitable locations.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Azam Suleman said this while informing the participants of a meeting chaired by Regional Coordination Officer (RCO) Sohail Aamir to review Ramazan arrangements here on Friday.
He said the CDGF had been organising 17 Sunday and Friday Bazaars in various localities to provide commodities to the masses on cheap prices.
The raise in number of bazaars in Ramazan would enable a large number of consumers to access cheap food items like sugar, ghee, pulses, flour, dates, fruits and other items, the DCO said and added that such products would also be available at different utility stores.
As many as 240 utility stores had been set up on union council level, he added.
The DCO said 33 special price magistrates had also been appointed to arrest the trends of profiteering, price-hike and hoarding.
The RCO directed the district government officers to ensure quality, weight and availability of edibles on controlled prices in Ramazan and made frequent visits to these bazaars.
He said cell phone numbers of all price magistrates must be made public to involve masses in a drive against profiteering and hoarding.
He urged the traders of grain market, wholesalers and retailers to cooperate with the government to facilitate masses in the month of Ramazan.
