Saarc chamber workshop

KARACHI, Aug 27: The Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a two-day strategy workshop in Colombo for capacity building of its office-bearers and to enhance their role in institutional development.

The workshop, held in collaboration with Friedreich Naumann Stiftung (FNSt), was attended by two representatives from each member country of South Asia.

The strategy workshop was planned and facilitated by Dr Peter Schroder, a renowned German consultant and strategist, who presented SWOT analysis supported by working session on the strategy.

On the second day, the facilitator focused on development of time-action plan followed by session on implementation of the strategy.

Tariq Sayeed, president, and Iftikhar Ali Malk, vice president, Saarc CCI, termed the workshop an effective and useful measure for capacity-building of the institution.

In the second phase of the strategic planning, the workshop will focus on implementation of the strategic plan.

Representatives from Pakistan included Zubair Ahmad Malik, Faiz Rasool Khan and Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad Dhingra.

M K Saharia and Manish Mohan represented India while Bap Kinga and Yeshey Norbu from Bhutan, Suraj Vaidya and Pramila Rijal from Nepal, Kosala Wickramanayak and Tissa Jayaweera from Sri Lanka participated in the workshop.

Dr Rene Klaff, regional director FNSt, Iqbal Tabish, Nafeesa Hashmi and Subodh Kumar were also present. —APP
