LAHORE, Aug 29: Pakistan maintained super form in the ongoing 14th Asian Junior volleyball championship when it thrashed defending champions Korea 3-0 in the last match of the Super League in Tehran, Iran, on Friday.

Pakistan, who already qualified for the semi-final by defeating Australia and Japan, boosted their morale further by shocking Korea with a 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 defeat.

By making the last four, the young Pakistan team also qualified for the World Junior championship.

Before winning, Pakistan took a 16-13 lead against Korea in the first set in the second technical time out.

In the second set, ace spikers Ali Abbas, Mohib Rasool, Zaheer Khan and Zaheer Abbas also changed serving tactics to force Korea into making errors while Pakistan doubled the lead.

Korea, in the final set, tried coming back into the match but all they managed to do was stretch Pakistan to 27-25 before losing the set and with it the match.

Pakistan faces hosts Iran in the semi-final on Saturday.
