VEHARI, Aug 30: The Danywal police have registered a case against eight district jail officials, including two assistant superintendents and the warder, on the charge of torturing a trader for nothing.

Reports said assistant superintendents Usman Koreja and Zafar Baloch, store in-charge Muhammad Rafiq, warder Asif Latif and four other officials gave a sound beating to a trader, Mumtaz, who questioned one of them for starting his motorcycle parked outside his shop.

The officials beat up the trader at the district jail and let him go on the intervention of the Danywal police who admitted Mumtaz to the DHQ hospital with severe injuries.

After receiving the medical report, the Danywal police registered a case under section 365, 148, 149 of PPC against the jail officials.
