HYDERABAD, Sept 8: The managing director of Sindh Seed Corporation Gul Hassan Sandh said on Monday that the corporation would provide certified seed to growers at their fields through its mobile seed processing plants.

He said at an introductory meeting with the officers of the corporation after taking over charge as managing director that 11 processing plants were operating round the clock to ensure supply of certified seeds to farmers.

He said that to make SSC a profitable organisation and ensure supply of certified seeds to the farmers, the staff would have to work on a war-footing.

He dismissed the impression that the corporation was a burden on the government and said that the employees would have to work with sincerity, honesty and dedication to shake off the impression.

He directed the officials to ensure that certified seed were supplied to growers at taluka level. He warned that no delinquent officer would be tolerated and strict action would be taken against such officers.

He ordered officers to improve working of all the plants especially the plan in Sakrand.

He directed the meeting to carry out repairs of mini seed processing plants in Setharja and Ghotki, which had been damaged during Dec 27 riots and restart work on the experimental farm in Tandojam.

The meeting was informed that 96,000 tons of wheat seed was available for processing at the 11 plants of the corporation and three mobile plants were available for processing seed.
