HYDERABAD, Sept 10: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Wednesday distributed cash awards, commendatory certificates and shields among students who had secured positions in the examinations of matriculation and intermediate of all groups and were now engaged in social welfare activities.

He said at the prize-distribution ceremony at his secretariat that the students and social activists deserved recognition because it spurred them to work hard and motivated others to emulate them.

He also distributed cash and commendatory certificates among the heirs of police officers, who had sacrificed their lives in line of duty, and awarded the administrative officer of Ahsaas Foundation and the people behind a website about Hyderabad.

Male and female students, who had secured positions in the BISE examinations 2007-08 and 50 students of government schools, who had secured A-1 grade, were given cash awards.
