Asif pledges to develop Larkana

LARKANA, Sept 11: President Asif Ali Zardari has hinted at establishing industrial zone in Larkana and further bringing the city at par with the rest of developed cities as people of Larkana struggled hard for the restoration of democracy.

Talking to delegations of traders, lawyers, elected representatives at Naudero House on Thursday before leaving for Karachi, he said that the first phase of the government had been completed with the election of Prime Minister and President and now his priority was to strengthen the economy and work for the welfare of poor masses. The sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto had helped in the restoration of democracy, he said.

Educated youths would be trained and later provided employment in Arab countries, he said.

President announced of recruiting around 1400 policemen for Larkana only and further asked the Sindh Chief Minister to visit the place once a month for resolving the problems of workers. The Chief Minister assured of making regular visits to Larkana.

Asif Ali Zardari said that people had pinned hopes on the present setup as it was the peoples’ government and assured the delegations of coming up to their expectations.

He said efforts would be made to overcome unemployment by offering maximum number of jobs to unemployed youth. He said that it was the victory of democratic forces that transition from dictatorship to democracy had been completed.

He assured that all available resources would be utilized for providing basic facilities to people at their doorstep.

Members of the delegations congratulated him on his election as President of Pakistan with thumping majority. Zardari asked the chief minister to look into their problems and resolve these on priority.

President also visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto and offered Fateha.

Later, he flew back to Karachi.
