ISLAMABAD, Sept 15: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik left for London on Monday to assist President Asif Ali Zardari during his meeting with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown scheduled on Tuesday.
Because the talks are expected to focus on Al Qaeda activities in areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and series of air attacks by US-led forces in Pakistan’s tribal areas, Mr Malik has been called by the president to apprise the British authorities of ground realities in the troubled region.
Sources close to President Zardari said that the talks would be aimed at finding ways to defuse the explosive situation in Pakistan’s tribal region exacerbated by unprovoked US missiles strikes.
