HYDERABAD, Sept 16: The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court has issued notices to the EDO of revenue and mukhtiarkar of Sanghar to appear in court on Sept 24 over a petition filed by the widow of Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, seeking issuance of clearance certificate.

The petitioner Ms Gaman Khatoon who was represented by Shafi Kashmiri advocate said that the land had been in her possession and there had been no dispute over its propriety.

But after the death of her husband, the law-enforcing agencies took over possession of all the property belonging to the deceased and his heirs under orders of Sindh government.

She said that they also took away harvested crop and cattle heads. They had now abandoned the land but had not returned the cattle heads and other property, Gaman Khatoon said.

She said that being a wheel-chair bound old lady, she approached the minister for land revenue and EDO and mukhtiarkar of Sanghar, asking them to issue a clearance certificate so that she could transfer the land to her children and she was asked to approach court for the certificate.

There were instructions from the government for not issuing any documents to the owners of the land, she said.

She said that she requested the revenue minister to direct the EDO and mukhtiarkar to issue the clearance certificate and other land documents. The minister asked her to approach the court because the president was not prepared to release the land and issue documents to her, he said.

She said that she had been in physical possession of the land since long and had been entitled to transfer the property to her sons and daughters according to their share.

She prayed the court to direct revenue authorities to issue the certificate as well as other necessary documents so that she could transfer this land to her sons and daughters.

Gaman Khatoon lives in Malir area of Karachi and owns agricultural land in Deh Path of Daro taluka, Sanghar.
