Loadshedding cripples life in Larkana

Published September 18, 2008

LARKANA, Sept 17: The unscheduled power outage coupled with low voltage and frequent fluctuation has drastically affected almost all spheres of life in Larkana and its adjoining areas.

According to Hafiz Suleman, President of the Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Hesco had enforced ruthless loadshedding in these days.

‘What to talk of SDOs’ and line superintendents when the Hesco chief kept his cell phone switched-off, he said. Where should we go for registering our complaints, he added.

The Hesco was inclined to charge whatever it desired and also carry out loadshedding at its sweet will, he said.

It cast negative impact on trade and business, besides decreasing trade activities to 50 per cent in Larkana.

He said the superintendent engineer of Larkana conceded that Larkana was receiving low voltage from above and the forced loadshedding was due to ‘over loaded grid stations transformers’.

The Hesco officials expected improvement within a couple of days. During sehri, iftar and even taraveeh people face loadshedding, said Suleman Shiakh.
