RAWALPINDI, Sept 20: A judge of the anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Saturday recorded the statement of the father of a 10-year-old boy, who allegedly died after being hit in the firing of the capital police, after he filed a complaint against Superintendent of Islamabad Police (West) Nasir Aftab and some officials of Sabzi Mandi police.
The complainant, Gulistan Ali, the father of the deceased, Zeeshan Ali, in his submission under section 200 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), alleged that his son was killed by the bullets fired by the SP and his gunman at Khayaban-i-Sir Syed on the evening of September 13.
ATC-I Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman adjourned the hearing till September 27 for further proceedings.
Gulistan Ali alleged that he was being harassed by the police, district administration and political representatives of the area who do not want him to take up the matter with the highups and forget about the death of his child.
Giving details about the killing of his son, Gulistan Ali, a resident of CDA Colony in Islamabad, said Zeeshan was standing along side their motorcycle outside a photo shop in the market while he was inside the shop when he saw an Islamabad police party led by the SP firing shots straight at his son. He said his son was hit by two bullets and died on the spot. He said he also saw a car coming from the opposite side towards the police.
He alleged that the SP took his guard’s gun and fire two shots while his gunman fired four to five shots with an AK-47 that resulted in the death of his son which was witnessed by a large number of people. He said the SP came to him and apologised. He SP asked Gulistan to take away the body and disappear.
The complainant alleged that when he brought the dead boy to Holy Family Hospital a senior official of Sabzi Mandi police took away the body and directed him to take it from the office of the deputy commissioner. He said when he went to the district courts to collect the body of his son, an additional deputy commissioner threatened him with dire consequences and told him not to register a case against the policemen.
He alleged that since September he and his family were being harassed by senior officers of Islamabad police and were not being allowed to visit any police station to register a murder case.
The father of the deceased boy also said he was being pressurised by the area nazim and an ex-councillor to make a compromise with the accused policemen.
He sought legal action against the SP and other policemen for killing his son as bogus reports were being prepared by the police that the boy was killed in an encounter with car-lifters despite the fact that the capital police unlawfully entered into the limits of Rawalpindi police and committed the crime.
