Ton-up Owais gives lead to Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Sept 20: Mohammad Owais registered his third century as Hyderabad took a 16-run lead over the Karachi Blues side on the opening day of their three-day PCB Inter-region U-19 Cricket Championship match at Niaz Stadium on Saturday.

Owais, who has also scored centuries against Lahore Shalimar and Quetta, hammered half a dozen sixes and nine fours in his 133-ball 126 and Saim Pathan hit four fours and a six in his 75 as Hyderabad made 348 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 83 overs in reply to Karachi Blues’ first innings total of 332.Earlier in the day, opener Shahzaib Hasan hammered a spectacular century and captain Mohammad Hasan missed the three-figure mark by just two runs as Karachi Blues, batting first, made 332 all out in 82.2 overs.

Shahzaib cracked 15 boundaries and three sixes off 136 balls while Mohammad Hasan struck ten boundaries and a six in his 98.
