Naek’s house near Marriott damaged

ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: Law Minister Farooq H. Naek’s son narrowly escaped injury when glasses of windows and doors in his house shattered by the impact of blasts at the nearby Marriott Hotel showered all around him.

Mr Naek told DawnNews on Sunday that his son was sitting on a sofa, watching a football match soon after Iftar. At end of the match, he went to washroom and at that moment the huge blast took place in the hotel.

He escaped injury because he had left the place where pieces of glass and metal landed and destroyed almost everything there.

A large piece of metal also landed inside Mr Naek’s house through a shattered window that caused considerable damage.

Mr Naek said he had sent his son to his mother in Karachi because there was no proper place to sleep in the house now.

Everything was destroyed or damaged, including the windowpanes, glasses, TV set, furniture and computer.

He said police were yet to visit his house to assess the damage.
