HYDERABAD, Sept 22: The teachers of the Sindh Agriculture University demanded on Monday that supervisors of PhD assignments should be given remuneration, vacant posts should be filled and all the departments should be provided Internet facility in accordance with the instruction of the HEC.A delegation of university teachers led by their president Dr Ameer Bux Kalhoro said in a meeting with acting vice-chancellor Nizamuddin Halepoto that the university syndicate should be moved for teachers’ promotion to grade-21 from 20, the dilapidated buildings of the university should be repaired and the teachers should be given the same medical facilities as those available to the teachers of other universities.

Mr Halepoto said that laboratory equipment would be made available and urged students to perform key role in the promotion of academic activities. He assured that they would be provided all facilities and their problems would be solved.

Meanwhile, a delegation of teachers syndicate called on the vice-chancellor to discuss payment of salary to temporary employees. The meeting agreed that instructions would be issued to implement decisions of the syndicate.

SU ADMISSION: The director of admissions, University of Sindh, on Monday announced the eligibility criteria for admissions to various programmes being offered at the institution.

According to the official, the requirement for admission to BS programmes pertaining to software engineering, telecommunications and electronics is HSC with pre-engineering subjects or General Science group with Mathematics, Physics and Computer.

Similarly, those candidates seeking admissions to two-year MSc in Chemistry should possess a BSc degree to apply for admission to the programme.

He said that the university also offered admissions to four-year BS and MA programmes in English literature and linguistics separately under the Institute of English Language and Literature.

CHAIR ESTABLISHED: The University of Sindh has established M.H. Panhwar Chair at its Allama I.I. Kazi campus in Jamshoro.

The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq, has approved a proposal in this regard submitted by son of the late M.H. Panhwar and a notification has also been issued to this effect.
