LAHORE, Sept 22: Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq has qualified for the Thailand Open ATP World tennis championship by wining back-to-back qualifiers.
Aisam is the first Pakistani to appear in the US$576,000 event.
In order to qualify for the singles’ main draw, he had to pass through two rounds.
Aisam outclassed Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk 6-7(8), 7-6(4), 6-4 in over three-hour competition.
In the final round, he defeated sixth seed Luka Gregorc of Slovenia with scores of 6-7(0), 6-2, 7-6(4).
