HYDERABAD, Sept 26: The executive council of the Sindh Agriculture University Employees’ Action Committee at a meeting on Friday decided that if Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh was again posted as the university’s vice-chancellor without conducting any inquiry against him, the employees would resume their peaceful protest.

After the meeting, the leaders of the action committee, Hussain Bux Veesar, Syed Abdul Majeed Shah, Karam Ali Punnu, and Ghulam Haider Joyo, said in a statement alleged Dr Shaikh had destroyed the university and he was unacceptable to the employees.

They deplored that no inquiry committee had bee constituted to probe against Dr Shaikh as was promised by the secretary to Sindh governor, Aftab Lodhi.

The action committee leaders appealed to the governor and other relevant authorities to order an inquiry against Dr Shaikh and warned that the situation at the university would deteriorate if he was allowed to rejoin the university.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the All Sindh Universities Employees Federation, led by its chairman, Raza Mohammad Durrani, and Secretary-General Mohammad Bux Rajpar called on the acting vice-chancellor of the university.

They discussed issues like the confirmation of temporary employees, implementation of job quota for the children of the deceased employees, upgrading of pay scales of the educated workers, etc with the vice-chancellor.

The acting vice-chancellor has reportedly formed a committee to submit its recommendations and assured the delegation that at least some problems of the employees would be resolved within a couple of days, while other matters would be placed before the finance committee and the university’s syndicate.
