SAHIWAL, Sept 28: A youth working as a servant at a Canal Colony bungalow was electrocuted while two others received electric shock when they were shifting an iron grill to the rooftop.
Reports said three servants were shifting an iron grill to the bungalow’s rooftop from the ground floor at night when it accidentally touched a high-voltage wire.
All the three suffered an electric shock and one of them, Tanveer alias Tani (17), died instantly. The others— Shabbir and Zafer – were shifted to the DHQ hospital by Rescue 1122 officials.
Tanveer’s body has been sent to his native Shah Nawaz village, Pakpattan district, for burial.
TEACHERS’ CONCERN: Ittehad-i-Asataza, a trade union component of the Punjab Lecturer and Professor Association, Sahiwal chapter, has strongly condemned the privatisation of two female colleges in Karachi by the Sindh government.
According to a press release, Prof Tanveer, called an emergency meeting of the Ittehad’s Government College chapter at a local hotel which passed a resolution condemning the privatisation of the colleges.
Condemning Sindh government’s decision, he said teachers would never accept privatisation and fully endorsed stance of Sindh Lecturers’ and Professors’ Association on the issue.
BODY FOUND: Decomposed and chopped body of a youth was found at a desolate place near Chichawatni.
A local man informed Kassowal police about a decomposed body with its arms and legs chopped lying in the forest area.
The police contacted 12/14-L village Lumberdar Falak Sher Kathia, whose son Hussain Nawaz (25) had gone missing on Sept 5 and a kidnap case was registered on Sept 9 with FIR 288/08.
Falak Sher and his family identified Nawaz’s body through his glasses and clothes. Police have sent the body to Rural Health Center at Chak 4/14-L for autopsy.
SI Shoukat Ali said further investigation would be conducted on receiving medical examination report from Lahore. No arrest has so far been made.
