KARACHI, Sept 30: Sindh High Court division bench comprising Justice Yasmin Abbasey and Justice Khwaja Naveed Ahmed on Tuesday directed the chief medical officer of Karachi Central Jail to submit a medical report of an ailing prisoner before the court.
The prisoner, Saeedul Hassan, who had been awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs2.5 million in a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a bank fraud case, submitted that he was suffering from a heart problem and there was no proper medical treatment facility for him at the Karachi Central Jail.
His counsel prayed to the court that the prisoner be granted bail on medical grounds so that he could have proper medical treatment.
The division bench directed the chief medical officer to submit a report explaining why the ailing prisoner was not given a proper medical treatment and what arrangements were at the prison in this regard.—PPI
