KARACHI, Sept 30: Three Sindh swimmers will feature in the four-member Pakistan squad named on Tuesday for the third Commonwealth Youth Games being held at Pune, India, from Oct 12 to 18. The squad which comprises two boys and as many girls was announced by secretary of the Pakistan Swimming Federation, Majid Waseem.
Karachi’s 13-year-old Hoor Israr is the youngest member of the team and will make her international debut. The other three members Mazhar Naqvi, Shahbaz Khan and Aqsa Tariq have represented the country in the past as well.
“The boys are free-style swimmers whereas the girls will compete in breast-stroke events,” he said. He disclosed the team was picked after trials that took place at the PNS Karsaz pool where the swimmers are undergoing separate training in a camp.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) has already announced a two-member team for the event.
Pakistan will compete in five disciplines of the games, namely table tennis, swimming, athletics, weightlifting and wrestling. Swimming Team:
(Boys): Mazhar Naqvi (Sindh) and Shahbaz Khan (Punjab). (Girls): Aqsa Tariq (Sindh) and Hoor Israr (Sindh).

Our Sports Reporter adds from Lahore: Mohammad Anwar Khan has been named as chef-de-mission of the 24-member contingent which leaves from Karachi on Oct 9.
Syed Abrar Hussain will accompany as secretary-cum-treasurer while Dr. Syed Meesaq Hussain Rizvi will be the medical consultant.
Meanwhile, the athletics, weightlifting and wrestling federations have also announced their teams for the games.
