NEW DELHI, Oct 12: A Pakistani prisoner has died in an Indian jail, prison authorities said.
Asif, 32, who was expecting repatriation this month, had complained of severe chest pain and died before reaching hospital.
Jail officials claimed he had been suffering from tuberculosis.
He was recently shifted from Gurdaspur to the central jail in Amritsar on completion of his prison term.
The Pakistan High Commission was allowed to contact him and he was expecting repatriation to Pakistan in a couple of weeks.
Asif was arrested last year for allegedly having violated the Indian Passport Act.—APP
