KOHAT, Oct 13: At least one security personnel was killed and four were injured when militants attacked with rockets Spina Thana in Darra Adamkhel on Monday afternoon.

It was the second attack on Spina Thana, which presently serves as base camp for the security forces engaged in operation in Darra Adam Khel.

The deceased was identified as sepoy Ikram whereas the injured included Mozammal, Allah Dad, Ibrar Hussain and Rehmanud Din.

The injured were shifted to Peshawar. The security forces also demolished two houses of militant commanders in operation clean up in Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel on Monday.

PROTEST: The production units of Kohat Cement Company remained closed for eleventh consecutive day as protesters burnt tyres and blocked Rawalpindi-Kohat road for traffic on Monday.

The KCC had been suffering huge losses due to the forced closure of the company by NWFP Minister for Housing and Planning Amjad Afridi and hundreds of local people and expelled workers 11 days ago.

The brother of the minister, Malik Abbas Afridi, while leading the protesters including local people and expelled workers set a one week deadline for the administration for the immediate installation of a filter system at the new white cement plant and jobs for the people.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that dust emitting from the plants was causing diseases like tuberculosis and chest ailments but the company was not serious about the safety of the people and the economic uplift of the backward area despite earning millions of rupees as profit every day.

Later the police facilitated negotiations of nazims, Malik Abbas and elders with the administration of the company after which the demonstrators dispersed peacefully.

The KCC management had been claiming that they had already got filter plants at the grey and white cement units and some of the workers who accepted golden handshake last year were now conspiring to blackmail the company for reappointment.
