HYDERABAD, Oct 15: The government was keen at providing best medical facilities for which consultant doctors and staff will be appointed in hospitals run by the district administration.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said this during a meeting at his secretariat on Tuesday discussing purchase of medical equipment and posting of staff in six city hospitals, including a trauma centre.

Latest medical equipment will be provided to trauma centre, Liaquat Colony Hospital, Sehrish Nagar Hospital, Khadeeja Hospital Latifabad No.8, Hali Road Hospital and Basic Health Unit, Latifabad No.10, along with the appointment of specialist doctors and staff, he said.

Mr Jamil directed the Health Department officials to purchase medical equipment directly from manufacturers or sole agents due to paucity of funds.

He called for merging the residential area of Sehrish Nagar Hospital and completion of construction work.

DCO Ali Ahmed, EDO Health Dr Bux Ali Pitafi, District Health Committee Chairman Dr Arif Razmi and officials concerned attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the district nazim inaugurated the Holm Stead Hall park on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that to provide healthy recreational facilities, the district government had constructed a number of parks in three city talukas.

He said the City taluka was very congested and hub of economic activities due to which it lacked recreational places such as parks. Nevertheless, he said, parks were being constructed wherever space was available.

He said the district government had so far constructed 35 parks in three talukas and handed them over to taluka municipal administrations.

He said that Rs1.5 million had been spent on construction and renovation of Holm Stead Hall park and added that it was now the duty of taluka city administration to maintain it.
