KARACHI, Oct 15: The fifth Aga Khan University (AKU) Sports Centre Inter-School Basketball Tournament commenced on Tuesday at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium. Eleven teams representing reputable educational institutions across Karachi were present in their colourful sports uniforms at the inaugural ceremony.

Two matches were played on the opening day. In the first match, Frobel’s Education Centre (FEC) beat Aga Khan Higher Sec. School (AKHSS) 21- 19. Kamil Lotia of FEC (13 points) scored the victory point in the last ten seconds to win a thriller for his side. Abdullah scored 6 points. For the losing side, Areib Mohsin was the topscorer with 8 points while Ahmed Qamar scored 5 points.

The second match saw Generation School getting the better of Progressive School by 27 - 10. Agha Bilal was outstanding for the Generation School and scored 15 points while Maaz bin Tariq and Hasan scored 4 points each. For Progressive School, Adeel and Shehroze scored 5 points each.—Agencies
