Uplift projects for Murree announced

MURREE, Oct 16: The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday announced various development projects for Murree and directed the authorities concerned to accelerate the pace of work.

He also constituted a committee with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi MNA as its head, and secretaries of various Punjab government departments as its members to oversee various ongoing development projects in Murree.

He was presiding over a meeting at Government House Kashmir Point Murree.

He announced construction of a parking plaza at Dhobi Ghat where a chair lift would also be installed to take the tourists to Mall Road.

Secretaries of Punjab Government, including health, education, tourism, C&W, local bodies, officials of FWO, DCO Rawalpindi MNA Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, MPA Raja Fayaz Sarwar,Raja Ishfaq Sarwar General Secretary PML-N Punja, Raja Dafter Abbasi president PML-N Murree and others attended the meeting.

CM asked FWO officials to start repairing and carpeting work of nine roads of Murree city within five days and complete before start of the winter season as funds had already been released.

He directed widening of Rawalpindi-Murree road and Jika Gali-Kohal Bridal road, which should be completed before start of winter season.

He took serious notice of the encroachments on the forest land and asked secretary forest to submit a report in this regard within a week. He also directed the completion of on-going water project to bring water from Jehlem River for Murree.

The CM sought the proposals whether Tehsil headquarters Hospital should be upgraded in the same building or shifted to some other place. He also enhanced upper age limit to 40 years for appointment of teachers from hard areas, including Murree, Kotli Sattiyan and Kahuta.

Later, the CM met position holders of various boards and universities of Punjab.
