HYDERABAD, Oct 17: Terming suicide attacks as anti-Islam, leaders of different schools of thought called upon religious figureheads to come out of their abodes and put the nation on true path.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday, Markus Jamaat Ahle Hadees leader Ameer Abdullah Farooqui, Jamaat Ahle Sunnat leader Dr Anees-ur-Rehman Siddiqui, Shia Ulema Council leader Nizamul Haideri and others said that the crises facing the nation had put its existence at stake. They feared that the economic crisis had attained alarming proportions as people were forced to commit suicides due to poverty, hunger and unemployment.

They said after the Marriot Hotel bomb blast, massive capital flight was being witnessed and the currency reeling under tremendous pressure.

They appealed to the perpetrators of suicide attacks and bomb blasts to stop terrorism activities in the name of Pakistan and Islam as this was not a war against the enemy of Islam. Innocent people, including women and children were being killed, they said.
