MOHALI, Oct 18: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Saturday ruled out its mediation in the feud between the Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) and the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said that the ICC would not get into the feud and would wait for a report on the recent meeting between both sides before taking a decision in this matter.

“We are not mediating at this stage. The ICL application is under consideration. It is going through a process. I cannot speculate on the outcome. We will review the matter after the report comes,” said Lorgat, who was at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium here with ICC’s principal adviser I.S. Bindra.

Unwilling to give any commitment on whether the ban imposed on ICL will be revoked by the BCCI or the ICC, Lorgat said that getting both sides to meet to find a solution “was a very logical thing to do”.

He said that it was the BCCI that requested the ICC for a meeting with the ICL.

About the future of players who were being banned from national teams and international events for joining the ICL, Lorgat remained non-committal too.

“The players have the right to chose where they want to play (in IPL or ICL). We at the ICC have our rules and regulations. Depending on what the players choose, the consequences, according to rules, will follow,” the ICC CEO said.—Agencies
