ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: Mikhail Vasiliev of Russia won men’s singles title of the ITF Pakistan Futures International tennis championships at the PTF Tennis Complex on Saturday.

He defeated Adrian Sikora of Slovakia in straight sets.

In the first set, the scores were two-all as both the players held their respective services. Vasiliev built up 4-3 lead, breaking the fifth game of Sikora, hitting good powerful forehand drives down the line.

The Russian won the first set 6-2.

In the second set, Vasiliev took 4-2 lead and won it 7-5.

The winner was rewarded with a shield along and cash prize of US$1,300 whereas Sikora pocketed US$900.

The Chinese pair of I-Ta Chen and Hsian Han Lee annexed the doubles’ title, defeating Adrian Sikora and Patrick Taubert (Germany) in straight sets (6-2, 7-5).

Meanwhile, in the qualifying event of the ITF Pakistan Futures (F2) tennis tournament, 12 matches were decided.
