Teachers not being sacked, says EDO

Published October 21, 2008

ATTOCK, Oct 20: The executive district officer (EDO) education, in response to district nazim's executive order, on Monday clarified that neither the services of any teacher were being terminated nor had any advertisement for fresh appointment been sent to director general public relation (DGPR) Punjab for publication.

However the educators/ministerial staff, etc., who were appointed by the district government on fixed pay would compete on open merit “if the Punjab government advertised these vacancies”, the EDO education Attock district Ansar Wazir Hydar in a letter to the district naizm Attock said.

He also submitted that all the recruitments were being made under the directions of Punjab government and will be carried out through prescribed procedure/policy laid down in the notification No. SO(S-IV)2-34/2008 dated Aug 23, 2008 of Punjab education department, Lahore.

No instructions have been received from the Punjab education department regarding continuing the services of the educators/ministerial staff, who have attained the age of superannuation, EDO education added.
