ABBOTTABAD, Oct 22: Renowned lawyer and candidate for the slot of president of Supreme Court Bar Association, Ali Ahmed Kurd, has said that lawyers’ movement will continue till the reinstatement of Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Mr Kurd said that lawyers deserved full credit for the revival of democracy in the country as due to their movement a dictator was forced to pack up and the exiled leaders were able to come back to the country. He was addressing lawyers of Hazara, office-bearers of bar associations of Haripur, Mansehra, Abbottabad and other districts at Peshawar High Court Abbottabad Circuit Bar Association here on Wednesday. “The rule of law and supremacy of constitution are still to be achieved even in the presence of an elected government in the country.

This is the major goal of the more than 100,000 lawyers, whose struggle is acknowledged by the world,” he added.

Mr Kurd praised the role of media and civil society saying that lawyers’ movement should be continued with full spirit to reinstate the judiciary of November 2. —Correspondent
