KARACHI, Oct 22: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) beat Pakistan Steel 3-1 and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) triumphed over Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) 2-0 as the third Pakistan Premier League Football (PPFL) match between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Afghan FC was postponed on Wednesday.

The match between NBP and Pakistan Steel at the Korangi Baloch Stadium saw the bankers getting ahead in the 22nd minute through their international striker Abbas Ali. The score at interval was 1-0. Pakistan Steel’s midfielder Naveed Raza equaled for them in the 57th minute. But NBP’s other striker Farooq Shah gave them their second goal in the 70th minute followed by yet another by Abbas in the 81st minute to seal the fate of the match.

The second match that was played at the Peoples Sports Complex saw HBL doing all the scoring with KESC reduced to the role of spectator. The first goal came in the 31st minute when striker Mohammad Ishtiaq converted a cross pass from winger Khayal Mohammad. The score at interval was 1-0.

HBL’s other goal was scored by Khayal Mohammad himself in the 75th minute.

The postponed match due to Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) taking away league matches from the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) Stadium after its in charge, the former FIFA referee Ahmed Jan, was found giving careless statements against the federation to the media, will now be played at the Peoples Sports Complex on Thursday.

Thursday’s fixtures: Khan Research Laboratories v Pakistan Television at the KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi; Army v Navy at the Army Stadium, Rawalpindi; Karachi Port Trust v Afghan FC at Peoples Sports Complex, Karachi. All matches will kick off at 4.00pm
