WASHINGTON, Oct 24: US military experts are teaching counter-insurgency techniques to Pakistani trainers and are not directly training the Frontier Corps, the Pentagon said.

“There has been a very, very small ‘train the trainer’ operation going on in Pakistan for some time,” said Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell.

“The hope is that the more trainers we train, the more effective they will be in training their forces and the more capable forces will then be able to take the fight to the militants in the tribal areas where they operate.”

Last week, about 25 US experts began training Pakistani trainers outside tribal areas where the FC operates.— Correspondent
