HYDERABAD, Oct 27: Sindhi Adabi Board press employees have appealed to the Sindh chief minister and the Sindh education minister, who is also the chairman of the board, to ensure release of the approved grant of Rs30 million to facilitate the working of the literary body.

A delegation of the Sindhi Adabi Board Press Employees Union (CBA) met with the board’s vice-chairman Shaikh Aziz on Monday and hailed his decision to appoint a senior employee, Gulbadan Javed Mirza, as the acting secretary of the board.The delegation appealed to Mr Aziz to appoint Ms Mirza as permanent secretary of the board. Mr Aziz assured the delegation that he would forward their request to the higher authorities and that he would try to solve problems of the employees.

The delegation comprised Tariq Alam Abro, Ayaz Soomro, Latif Jamali and Ghulam Haider Kachhi.

ANNIVERSARY: The Sindhi Adabi Forum held a function at Prince Town in Qasimabad to mark the third death anniversary of renowned singer, writer, teachers and political activist Jiji Zarina Baloch.

Speaking on the occasion, Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo, Abdul Qadir Ranto, Fariha Shah, Bachal Magsi, Noor Ahmed Katiar and Akhter Hafeez paid tribute to Ms Baloch.
