LANDI KOTAL: 236 Afghans deported

Published October 28, 2008

LANDI KOTAL, Oct 27: The tribal administration of Khyber Agency on Monday deported around 236 Afghans arrested by the law enforcing agencies during the last couple of days for illegal stay in Pakistan.

The officials of the administration brought these Afghans in buses to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Torkham and handed them over to the Afghan officials. The deportees were mostly staying in Pakistan without any valid permit. Most of them were arrested by the security forces in different parts of NWFP and tribal areas including Dara Adamkhel. Staying and entering into Pakistan without valid visa is a crime under the country’s Foreigners Act.

An official of the administration told Dawn that these Afghans were not having any document which could justify their stay here. He added that they were handed over to the administration for deportation by different law enforcement agencies.— Correspondent
