SUKKUR, Oct 30: The Sukkur City Taluka Council unanimously passed three resolutions - revival of city’s thermal power station, establishment of IT university, and renovation of historic Clock Tower. The council me t on Thursday under the chairmanship of convener Mohammad Rizwan Siddiqui.

Ayaz Ansari and Shewal Das jointly moved a resolution drawing the attention of the house towards long-closed thermal power station whose revival could produce 50MW of electricity capable of catering to the needs of the city. The resolution was approved unanimously.

Mohammad Ayaz Ansari and Aijaz Memon through another resolution demanded setting up of IT university as it has become necessary for the youth of upper Sindh to study computer education. They further revealed of IT Provincial Minister Haroon Raza’s assurance of providing every possible help. This resolution was also adopted unanimously.

Other members expressed anxiety over detorioriating condition of historic places in the city, especially the Clock Tower which has become a drug den due to the negligence of civic authorities. They called for moving the Evacuee Trust Property and district government for undertaking repair and renovation of the Clock Tower. This resolution was also adopted unanimously.

KILLED: A man was killed in a clash between Chachar and Jagirani clansmen over an old enmity in the Katcha area of Durrani Mahar police limits near Kandhkot on Thursday. Both groups exchanged fire resulting in the death of Mohammad Sharif Chachar on the spot.

Police shifted the body to Kandhkot hospital for post-mortem, but no case was registered.

A man was killed and another injured on Wednesday in a clash between two groups of Bozdar community over old enmity in Rasool Bux Bozdar village in Mirpur Mathelo police limits.

Two groups of Bozdar community were at daggers over a minor issue and last night both opened fire, killing Farman s/o Hussain Bux Bozdar on spot and injuring Abbas Bozdar. The injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital Sukkur.

No case was registered.

ARREST: Sukkur police arrested two persons and recovered 500 grams of high quality heroin from their possession from the Airport Road in Abad police limits on Wednesday.

A police party was on routine patrol when on searching two people it recovered 500 grams heroin. The two were identified as Jalal Khan of Peshawar and Gul Hassan Chandio of Larkana.

A case was registered against them.
