KARACHI, Oct 30: The weeklong activity of the annual CNS International Squash Championship begins at the PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan complex on Friday with the commencement of pre-qualifying round.

Originally, the pre qualifiers were supposed to be played for two days but after the announcement it was curtailed to a single day.

The 16 first round matches followed by eight of the second round are to be conducted on best of three games. The last round to determine top four players will be played on best of five games. The four players will join the 12 who were exempted from pre-qualifiers in the two-day qualifying round to be played on Nov 1 and 2.

Again four semi-finalists will advance into the main draw where they join 12 seeded players. The main round gets into action on Nov 3 with final slated for Nov 6.

Meanwhile, the top two seeds - Farhan Mehboob and Aamir Atlas Khan - have expressed their reservations to play the CNS and Pakistan Open championships under tournament referee Fahim Gul.

Both Farhan and Aamir are yet to make check-in for the event.

Though Fahim is already in town but Dawn’s efforts to get his point of view on his cell phone went in vain.
