QUETTA, Oct 31: People in the quake-affected area of Zandra blocked the Ziarat-Kawas road on Friday in protest against government’s failure to provide relief.

The protesters, demanding immediate supply of blankets and tents, dispersed after an hour after officials assured them that their needs would be met.

The villagers said that relief teams had ignored Zandra and nearby villages and worked only in areas which had suffered heavy casualties. Although no casualty occurred in Zandra but, they said, hundreds of houses had been flattened and a large number of people were living in the open in chilly weather.
