KARACHI, Nov 1: Qualifier Shaikh Saqib is among the eight players who breezed into the second round of two-day qualifiers of the CNS International Squash championship at the Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan squash complex on Saturday.
Punjab’s Saqib, who earned a spot in the qualifying round from pre-qualifiers, struggled for 50 minutes to post 5-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7 victory over Owais Khan, ranked 242nd in the world.
He is drawn to meet Amjad Khan who disposed off Zubair Yousaf 11-2, 11-1, 11-2 in just 10 minutes in contrasting style.
The match between Nosherwan Khan and Kashif Khan lasted for 72 minutes with former winning 11-8, 12-10, 11-13, 13-11.
He faces Safeerullah Khan who proved too good for another qualifier Hamza Bokhari by handing 11-4, 11-1, 11-3 defeat.
The winners of the second round will advance into the main draw.
