KHAIRPUR, Nov 3: A reconciliation meeting held at Pir Jo Goth Rest House on Sunday settled one-year-old Odha-Ulra tribal feud, which had claimed 11 lives and left scores injured on both sides.

Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jilani and former provincial minister Sardar Mir Manzoor Panhwar oversaw proceedings of the meeting and Sohrab Sarki, Fayaz Ahmed Lund, Karim Dino, Mir Mazhar assisted them.

The leaders, after hearing out the two sides, imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on Odhos for starting the dispute and fixed Rs400,000 as fine for each murder.

They declared that the first person who lost his life in the dispute was innocent and slapped a fine of Rs800,000 for his murder.

They fixed Rs50,000 each as fine for each man injured in the feud and Rs200,000 compensation for another murder of an Ulra man.

The meeting decided that whoever restarted the dispute would have to pay a fine of Rs1 million and observed that since the dispute had started over a piece of agricultural land the notables of the area would resolve it by asking the parties to produce ownership documents of the land.

The fine would be submitted to administration so that it could be disbursed among the victim families of both the communities.

GIRLS BURNT TO DEATH: Three minor girls, Shama, Saiqa and Arbab, were reportedly burnt to death when their house caught fire in Hayat village in Nara taluka late on Sunday evening.

However, the administration neither confirmed nor denied the report.
