KOHAT, Nov 6: Authorities reopened schools and colleges in various areas of Frontier Region Darra Adamkhel after seven months on Thursday, said a notification. However, the educational institutions in Toor Chapper area will remain closed, it added.

The administration announced the reopening of the schools, which had been closed for security reasons and military operation in the area. The militants had been blowing up school buildings since April early this year demanding closure of middle to secondary level girl’s schools.

More than seven schools in various parts of Darra Adamkhel were completely destroyed by the Taliban, who also demolished all the Khasadar checkposts on the Indus Highway and Darra Adamkhel Bazaar one by one.

Most of the students stayed at homes, whereas those whose schools had been destroyed could not attend classes, which started on Thursday. —Correspondent
