KARACHI, Nov 7: The organising committee of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Sindh met at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) on Friday to finalise details for the opening Test match in Karachi, to be held at the club in the forthcoming junior home series against India starting here from Nov 11.

The meeting presided by PHF Sindh’s patron-in-chief, Sindh’s Minister for Sports Dr Mohammad Ali Shah was also attended by Sindh’s Sports Secretary Shoaib Siddiqui, Honorary Secretary Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) Gulfraz Ahmed Khan, HCP’s Director Administration Olympian Iftikhar Syed, PHF Sindh media coordinator Ghulam Mohammad Khan and several high-ranking military and civil officials, began with a moment of silence in memory of former Governor of Sindh, Mahmoud Haroon, who passed away on Thursday.

The stadium, it was decided among the several things regarding the event, will have a separate enclosure for ladies. Arrangements would also be made for an entertainment programme to be presented by popular singers an hour before the match as well as during the halftime. Refreshments and snacks would be available throughout.

The Indian junior team that would arrive here on November 10 will be given a warm welcome at the airport.

The HCP is also receiving a fresh coat of paint on the directive of PHF Secretary Asif Bajwa.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan junior hockey team that is currently training at the camp set up for the tournament at the HCP will be meeting with the national cricket team at the National Stadium at 11.00am on Saturday.

The meeting has been arranged to allow the young hockey players to meet in person with their national heroes and be motivated in giving their best to their sport like the cricketers while knowing how it feels to be proud players of Pakistan.
