LAHORE, Nov 12: National hockey club champion team Olympian Village Club Gojra left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday to participate in the Asian Club Hockey Championship being played there from November 13 to 16.

It is the first time that Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sent a club team abroad to participate in a championship to provide exposure to the young players.

Six teams from five countries have been divided into two groups. Group ‘A’comprises two teams from Malaysia and Thailand, while Group ‘B’ consists of Pakistan, Singapore and Uzbekistan.

Olympian Village Club Gojra will play their first match against Uzbekistan on Nov 13, while they face Singapore on Nov 14. The final and classification matches are scheduled for Nov 16.

The 20-member contingent comprises on 16 players and four officials.

Imran Hussain, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Shahbaz, Mohammad Tousiq, Muhammad Khaliq, Manzoor-ul-Hassan, Mohammad Rizwan, Akbar Ali, Tariq Nazir, Mohammad Kashif, Sajid Ali, Mohammad Rauf, Khawar Javaid, Mohammad Abu Bakar, Mehmood Ali and Sabir Ali.

Officials:

Mohammad Aslam Roda (team manager), Ajmal Khan Lodhi (coach), Imran Aslam (assistant coach) and Zulfiqar Hussain (umpire).
