RAWALPINDI, Nov 14: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench here on Friday issued notices to the Punjab highups, directing them to submit their comments in response to a petition filed by the district public prosecutor against alleged discrimination of perks structure for prosecutors of the same pay scale.

Justice M A Zafar of the LHC issued notices to provincial chief secretary, finance secretary and secretary Punjab public prosecution department on the petition of Muhammad Asghar Malik, district public prosecutor (DPP) Rawalpindi, who has sought modification in Punjab Criminal Prosecution Service Act (PCPSA) 2006, reversal of some rules added in the act in 2007 regarding prosecution service and enhancement of his special monthly allowance to the amount paid to additional prosecutor general (APG).

Mr Asghar in his writ petition through his counsel Dr G S Khan maintained that according to the PSPCA and its amended rules about services of prosecutors, the DPP had been given no way to get promotions to the posts of APG in BPS 19 and prosecutor general (PG) Punjab in BPS 20 in the amended rules of the act.

The petitioner alleged that he was being subjected to discrimination as the APG in BPS 19 was getting Rs75,000 as special allowance whereas he was given Rs10,000, despite the fact he was also in BPS 19.
