FAISALABAD, Nov 17: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Monday the government would soon set up the bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here in the district.

He said this while addressing the district bar association at the Kiani Hall. Mr Sanaullah said the government wanted an LHC bench here for speedy dispensation of justice to masses and work was underway to materialise the demand of Faisalabad lawyers.

He said former rulers only raised hollow slogans and the issue was highlighted only to divide lawyers of the district who had been playing active role for the restoration of judges sacked under the Nov 3 emergency.

He announced a Rs10 million special grant for the Faisalabad bar and said Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had also earmarked Rs2.5 million for divisional and Rs1 million grant for district bar associations.

The minister said the chief minister would soon visit the district and announce different development packages.
