Musharraf, Aziz not pardoned yet: Riaz

FAISALABAD, Nov 18: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has not yet pardoned former military dictator Pervez Musharraf and former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, says a provincial minister.

The accountability of people like Musharraf and Aziz, who caused an irreparable loss to the country, is obligatory, but the PPP cannot do this right now because of some hitches, senior Punjab minister Raja Riaz told a press conference at his residence on Tuesday.

He said the government could not move against the two because of national and international pressure, which could have put the country in trouble.

The minister said the PPP-led government was devising policies for the masses instead of individuals. He said the PPP would organise a rally in Lahore on Nov 20 to muster public support for its policies, adding that the rally would start from Punjab Assembly and conclude at Governor’s House.

Riaz said conspiracies were being hatched against the PPP government. He said some ‘unscrupulous’ elements tried to keep the PPP from the Feb 18 election. He said committees had been formed to decide the fate of 58(2)b and 17th Amendment.
