Nawaz unhappy with Sanaullah

Published November 20, 2008

LAHORE, Nov 19: PML-N patron Nawaz Sharif has expressed his displeasure at targeting of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer’s family by provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, while senior minister Raja Riaz has said the matter will be taken up with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif upon his return from China.

PML-N sources claimed that Rana Sana had not consulted the party leadership before launching attack on the Taseers, and that the elders had conveyed their disapproval to him.

The leadership presently focusing on isolating the Chaudhrys of Gujrat to disintegrate the PML-Q did not want opening any new front at this juncture, the sources said.

It may be mentioned that the party had assigned Rana Sanaullah the task of reacting to or countering verbal attacks of Governor Taseer, who, what PML-N leaders believed, was out to create a rift among the two coalition partners in the provincial government.

Meanwhile, PPP leader and senior minister Raja Riaz told reporters here on Wednesday that the character assassination of the governor by the provincial law minister could cause problems in the smooth running of the coalition government. He said targeting of the family of a politician could not be approved.—Amjad Mahmood
