SUKKUR, Nov 20: Ghotki police claimed to have arrested two most wanted dacoits after an encounter in Dring Chachar village in Belo Mirpur police station’s limits near Mirpur Mathelo on Thursday morning.

According to Rafique Ahmed Qureshi, In-charge CIA Police Ghotki, a police party cordoned off the village after receiving a tip-off that the dacoits were hiding there.

The dacoits opened fire on seeing the police and after half an hour of exchange of fire, police managed to arrest Atta Mohammad Mahar and Rano Dhondho, he said.

Police found two pistols and a large number of bullets in their possession. Police claimed that both the dacoits were wanted by Ghotki police in more than eight cases of heinous crimes including murder, kidnapping and robbery.

HESCO UNION: The president of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro-electric Central Labour Union Abdul Latif Nizamani said on Thursday that the union opposed the IRA-2008, which had been approved by the parliament without taking into confidence labour unions.

He said that the union had struggled for the rights of workers and on their demand, employees of Hesco had been promoted on a large-scale throughout Sindh and services of all contract employees had been regularised.

Later, union office-bearers and manager operations of Hesco held a meeting after which promotion orders for 40 linemen were issued and the officer assured the union office-bearers that their demands about provision of gas to Wapda colonies, up-gradation of Wapda hospital, repair and maintenance of Wapda vehicles and payment of dues would be considered.
